New Delhi: On Tuesday, it seemed as if Ranveer Singh's 'Cirkus' fell even farther in the ratings. After very poor results on its opening weekend, the movie will not be able to recover during the weekdays. According to the industry website sacnilk, the Rohit Shetty film brought in something around Rs 2.25 crore on Tuesday.
The movie brought total profits for the first five days not more than Rs 25 crore, a number that is shockingly low for a film starring Ranveer Singh.
Due to the limited amount of space available, ‘Cirkus’ will not be able to extend its run at the box office until the second weekend.
The movie is also struggling at the box office because it’s competing with James Cameron's ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. It was already performing well, but now that there are no major films competing with it at the box office, it is likely to soar much higher.
The film marks Ranveer Singh's third collaboration with Rohit Shetty after 'Simmba' and the Akshay Kumar-starrer Sooryavanshi', where he had an extended cameo appearance.
Shakespeare's Comedy of Errors, which has been turned into Bollywood comedy flicks like 'Angoor' and 'Do Dooni Chaar', served as the inspiration for 'Cirkus'.
The comedy film is produced by Reliance Entertainment, T-Series, and Rohit Shetty Picturez and helmed by Rohit Shetty. Along with Ranveer Singh, the movie also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, Johnny Lever, Varun Sharma, Mukesh Tiwari, Siddhartha Jadhav, Sanjay Mishra and several other prominent actors. 'Cirkus' was released on the big screens on December 23.
Also, on Ranveer's plate is the Karan Johar directorial 'Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani' in which he will share the screen with Dharmendra, his 'Gully Boy' co-star Alia Bhatt, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi.
