After a gap of two years, Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone is finally back to entertain fans with her latest release 'Chhapaak' co-starring Vikrant Massey. Directed by 'Raazi' fame Meghna Gulzar, 'Chhapaak' finally hit the theatres this Friday and started on a positive note by collecting Rs. 4.77 crore on the opening day. The film has got positive reviews whereas Deepika has given one of her best performances till now in it. Despite clashing with Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol starrer 'Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior', 'Chhapaak' has witnessed an upward trend on second day however the 2-day is still underwhelming.

On Saturday, 'Chhapaak' has collected Rs. 6.90 crore thereby making the grand total to Rs. 11.67 crores. Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film's second day box office collection on Twitter.

Deepika Padukone's 'Chhapaak' Declared Tax-Free In Rajasthan

He wrote, "#Chhapaak witnesses an upward trend on Day 2, but the 2-day total is underwhelming... Decent at premium multiplexes, but unable to connect *and* collect beyond metros... Needs to cover lost ground on Day 3... Fri 4.77 cr, Sat 6.90 cr. Total: ₹ 11.67 cr. #India biz."

For the uninitiated, 'Chhapaak' is inspired from acid-attack survivor Laxmi Agarawal. Laxmi was 15 when the attack occurred, which was at a New Delhi bus stop in 2005. Her attacker, a 32-year old man, was an acquaintance of her family. Later, she took up the job of helping acid attack survivors and promoted campaigns to stop such attacks. Agarwal is a well-known advocate of stricter punishments in acid attack cases.

The film is getting positive response from critics as well as audience and it needs to remain steady at the box-office to deliver a good total at the end of its theatrical run.
