New Delhi: Sushant Singh Rajput’s niece Mallika Singh has welcomed the Supreme Court’s verdict of handing over the investigation in the late Bollywood actor’s case to the CBI. The apex court on Wednesday (August 19) ordered an investigation by the CBI in the ‘Dil Bechara’ actor’s death case. Sushant’s niece Mallika took to her Instagram story to hail the decision.

Mallika, who used to call Sushant as ‘Gulshan mama’, quoted a popular proverb and said that a significant step was taken in the matter ‘despite all the odds’.

"Where there is a will, there is a way. Despite all the odds, one significant step. Rest peacefully, Gulshan mama, all of us are here for your justice. Har Har Mahadev #CBITakesOver," Mallika wrote.

Sushant's family released a statement after the SC pronounced its verdict in the 'Kai Po Che' actor's case. Mallika shared the statement on her Insta story and thanked the fans for their support.

Mallika had earlier shared a video with Sushant on social media after his demise. The caption for the post read, "I love you so, so much, my Gulshan mama. I will miss you immensely."



Other members of Sushant's family including his sister Shweta Singh Kirti and brother-in-law Vishal Kirti have also welcomed the SC verdict on Twitter.

"Thank you God!  You have answered our prayers!! But it is just the beginning... the first step towards the truth! Full faith on CBI!!," Shweta Singh Kirti wrote on the micro-blogging site.



Vishal tweeted, "Whatever the outcome of the CBI Enquiry is, at the very least, we will get a fair and unbiased enquiry now. Very thankful to the Indian Jurisprudence for keeping the dreams and aspirations of millions of Indians alive. Thanks to #Warriors4SSR who have fought hard for this victory."



The top court on Wednesday directed the Mumbai Police to hand over the evidence collected so far to the CBI. The order came on Rhea Chakraborty's plea seeking transfer of the case registered against her in Patna to Mumbai in connection with the 'Raabta' actor's death.
