Speaking about the same, a source close to the film's production company 'Yash Raj Films' told an entertainment portal that, “Bunty Aur Babli sequel has been on cards for quite some time now. But it was only recently that the things were taken forward. Aditya Chopra himself is looking into this and the pre-production work has already started. Both Rani and Abhishek are more than keen to do this project and have given their nod for it. However, it won’t be directed by Shaad. Who is helming this sequel is still not revealed. But the plot has been finalised and the shoot schedule is being planned. If everything works out well, then the movie will tentatively go on-floors in November, this year."
When contacted, the official spokesperson of the production house told Pinkvilla that, "Bunty Aur Babli is one of Aditya Chopra’s favourite YRF film and he has always wanted to make a sequel to the much-loved movie. However, currently, there is no locked script or locked cast for the same.”

Directed by Shaad Ali, 'Bunty Aur Babli' got released in the year 2005 and went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year. Also featuring Amitabh Bachchan in an important role, the film was the story of two lovable crooks for which Abhishek and Rani even got nominated in the category of Best Actor/Actress at various award functions.
'Bunty Aur Bali' was the first film to feature the father-son duo of Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan along with a guest appearance by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the song 'Kajra Re'.
For the uninitiated, Rani & Abhishek are one of the most loved on-screen couples and has worked together in films like 'Yuva', 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' and was last seen together in 2007 film 'Laaga Chunari Mein Daag'.
