New Delhi: Bobby Deol has received appreciation for his portrayal of Animal's menaced antagonist, Abrar Haque, despite the film's criticism. In an interview with The Quint, Bobby was asked why he took the part after revealing that he had to kiss Ranbir Kapoor's Rannvijay Singh during the movie's climax. However, "the kiss" was eliminated by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The kissing scene in Animal "may appear on the uncut Netflix version," he added.

“See I said yes before he (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) could even narrate it (Abrar's role) to me because I knew whatever he is going to tell me is going to be very amazing,” said Bobby Deol.

"And when he (Sandeep Reddy Vanga) started talking to me about the characters, he said ‘There are these two brothers, they want to kill each other, but there’s a love that they have for each other. I’m going to shoot a climax sequence with a song playing in the background, which is about love’… He said, ‘You’re fighting, and you suddenly kiss him, and then you don’t give up, and he kills you’. But he removed the kiss. There was a kiss. I think it might come on the uncut Netflix version. Then he (Sandeep) said, 'You are mute'. After saying all this, he said, ‘You’re mute’. I was like okay," he added.

'Animal'—a film about a dysfunctional father-son relationship—continues to do well at the box office in spite of the criticism. Having made over Rs 772 crore worldwide, the movie is getting close to breaking the Rs 500 crore nett milestone in India.

The action drama also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Shakti Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, and Prem Chopra in addition to Bobby and Ranbir. Viewers and critics have had mixed reviews of the film since its December 1 release; many condemned it for having violent and toxic characters.
