New Delhi: The trailer of Anubhav Sinha directorial 'Bheed' has dropped. With the release of the teaser, the project sparked criticism last week. The first lockdown in 2020 and its immediate aftermath are dramatised in the movie along with its effects on various social classes.
The trailer begins with shots of people leaving cities in the midst of the pandemic and heading in record numbers to their homes. The film shows the harsh realities of social inequality during the time that the nation's borders were being drawn. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses to the nation and his announcement that a full lockdown would be implemented in a matter of hours.
Rajkummar Rao seems to be portraying a good cop who takes it upon himself to reprimand someone for expressing caste prejudice at a moment of unrest. Because of what was stated about the Muslim community during the Tablighi Jamat incident, Pankaj Kapur plays a bigot who refuses help from Muslim characters. But likewise trapped far from home, Dia Mirza's character seems to be in a better financial position.

While talking about his film, Anubhav Sinha stated,"The film is shot in Black and White because I wanted to capture the pulse of our nation at the time when we were going through a very difficult period in the lockdown. As we were coping with different issues, there was a section of our society that was neglected and invisible to us.
Rao, who is playing one of the lead characters, also added,"Working on Bheed was a deeply emotional experience for me. Anubhav Sinha is a master of telling real-life stories, and this film is no different. It's an important story."
The film features an impressive ensemble cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Kapur, Bhumi Pednekar, Ashutosh Rana, Dia Mirza, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Shrivastav, Kritika Kamra, and Karan Pandit.
Produced by Anubhav Sinha's Benaras Mediaworks, Bheed is set to release in cinemas on the 24th of March 2023.
