New Delhi: The movies 'Barbie', starring Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie, and Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer clashed in theatres. The highly anticipated flicks, which hit theatres on Friday, have performed superbly at the Indian box office.


However, the biopic 'Oppenheimer', which has received favourable reviews and strong box office numbers, is currently in the lead. The movie's weekend haul has brought its total earnings very near to Rs 50 crore net. 'Barbie', meanwhile, made small progress on Sunday. On the other hand, according to figures from the global box office, Greta Gerwig's movie has been doing better than 'Oppenheimer'.


According to early estimates, 'Barbie' made over Rs 7 crore on Sunday in India, according to a report on Sacnilk.com. On Saturday, the movie brought in Rs 6.5 crore, a rise from its opening day total of Rs 5 crore. The current three-day total is Rs 18.50 crore.


Barbie and Ken are the central characters of the movie. After experiencing an existential crisis, they embark on a voyage of self-discovery. 


Nolan's 'Oppenheimer', on the other hand, has been doing exceptionally well and is close to breaking the 50 crore mark in India. The third day of Oppenheimer's release in India brought in Rs 17.25 crore net, according to early estimates, according to a Sacnilk.com report. On its first day of release, the movie made Rs 14.50 crore, and on its second day, it brought in Rs 17.25 crore. The current sum of 'Oppenheimer's earnings is Rs 49 crore. 


The biopic 'Oppenheimer', which centres on the life and career of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, is set in the Second World War. He was known as the creator of the atomic bomb. The main character was played by Cillian Murphy, and Katherine Oppenheimer, his wife, was portrayed by Emily Blunt.
