Anurag Kashyap Reveals Why He Was Fired From Salman Khan-Starrer Tere Naam
Director Anurag Kashyap revealed that he was ousted from the Salman Khan movie 'Tere Naam'.
New Delhi: Director Anurag Kashyap, whose recent release is 'Almost Pyaar with DJ Mohabbat', has revealed that he was ousted from the Salman Khan movie 'Tere Naam'. In an interview with YouTuber Samdish Bhatia for his show Unfiltered, Kashyap recounted how he was abruptly fired from the movie.
Anurag was hired to helm 'Tere Naam' in around 2002. In keeping with his inclination towards realism, he urged Salman Khan refrain from shaving his chest because Radhe, the character, was from Uttar Pradesh, where men are known for their highly unpolished appearances. Salman Khan, a superstar with a public image to uphold, disagreed with Anurag Kashyap's idea. The filmmaker was suddenly fired from the movie once the film's producer heard how he advised Salman not to shave his chest.
However, Anurag is not spiteful as he stated that he appreciates Salman Khan's movies like 'Sultan', 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan', and 'Dabangg'. Abhinav Kashyap, Anurag's brother, actually directed 'Dabangg', which introduced Salman as the unusual cop.
Anurag also mentioned Shah Rukh Khan, saying that the 'Pathaan' actor was his college senior.
“I want the film to be a hit and I am very happy with Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback. I don’t know how he manages to stay fit,” he said.
Yes, I have thought of working with him a lot of times. He has been my college senior and whenever he calls I stand up while I pick the call. He is like a big brother to me. He has given up on me and he keeps telling me what not to do. He told me why I should not be on Twitter,” the director added.
Meanwhile, Anurag Kashyap's film 'Almost Pyaar WIth DJ Mohabbat' is a take on Gen Z and how they negotiate love and relationships in present day. The film was released on February 3, 2023.
