Ameesha Patel has once again voiced her disappointment with Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma, alleging that the film’s climax was changed without her knowledge. Previously, she had expressed feeling ‘cheated’ over the alteration. However, in a recent interaction, Anil Sharma dismissed her claims, asserting that Ameesha had signed the film after reading the complete script.
Anil Sharma calls Ameesha Patel 'moody'
Speaking to Vickey Lalwani on his YouTube channel, Anil Sharma addressed the controversy, saying, “Everyone is free to share their opinion. I don’t throw stones in dirt. For me, she is still part of the family. When she was new, she would come to my daily for 5-6 hours and she prepared with me on how to play Sakina. I have seen a good phase with her but woh bade ghar ki beti hai, bade ghar ke bacche moody hote hain na, woh bhi moody hai (She is a rich kid. Mostly people from rich families are moody, and so is she).”
He further elaborated, “She comes from a raees and khandani family. When she would come to our house for rehearsals, she would come wearing solitaires worth crores and in a Mercedes car worth Rs 1 crore. I decided to cast her because she was pretty, she wasn’t a very good performer but she learned it and she worked hard for it and she worked for 6 months to become Sakina. And she had that attitude that mostly kids who come from rich families have and that fitted my character.”
On altering Gadar 2 climax
Addressing Ameesha’s claim that the climax was altered without her knowledge, Anil responded, “If she has that much understanding, then she is free to make the film. It’s an open market. Who is stopping her?”
Ameesha had previously stated that she was verbally informed that her character, Sakina, would accompany Sunny Deol’s Tara Singh to Pakistan to kill the villain. Countering this, Anil explained, “Which actor doesn’t want to increase their screen time, but it wasn’t possible in our story. Also, she signed the film after reading the whole story. Is Pakistan a tourist centre that Sunny Deol will take everyone there? Already his son was captured by Pakistani forces and on top of that he would also take his wife? Ameesha’s character would have been a soft target and then Sunny Deol’s character would have gotten trapped. Tara Singh pagal hai kya jo biwi ko bhi leke jaega (Is Tara Singh mad to take his wife to Pakistan)?”
When asked whether Ameesha had pressured him to change the climax and involved the production studio, Anil simply said, “That all kept happening—I don’t want to get into that.”
