New Delhi: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has announced another upcoming film on Twitter on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra. The actor shared the first look of the film and announced that he will be portraying the role of Major General Ian Cardozo.
Akshay Kumar tweeted, “Sometimes you come across stories so inspiring that you just want to make them. #Gorkha - on the life of legendary war hero, Major General Ian Cardozo is one such film. Honoured to essay the role of an icon and present this special film. Directed By - @sanjaypchauhan”.
Based on the life of legendary war hero Major General Ian Cardozo, ‘Gorkha’ will be helmed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan.
Major General Ian Cardozo is a former Indian Army officer, who became the first war-disabled officer of the Indian Army to command a battalion and a brigade. Due to a war injury, he had to go through amputation (removal of limb) and had a wooden leg when he was promoted to Brigadier in the year 1984.
Ian Cardozo also served as the Chairman of Rehabilitation Council of India from 2005 to 2011. Despite his amputation, the former Indian Army officer regularly takes part in the Mumbai marathon.
Sharing the post, Akshay wrote, “Interval hua khatam, now it’s showtime! #Sooryavanshi releasing this Diwali, 5th November at a cinema near you. Come celebrate with us. #BackToCinemas”.
Other than ‘Sooryavanshi’, Akshay Kumar will also be seen featuring in ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’, ‘Atrangi Re’, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Mission Cinderella’ and ‘OMG – Oh My God! 2’.
