New Delhi: Akshay Kumar starrer 'Rowdy Rathore' created ripples at the box office upon its release. Despite getting mixed reviews, the action comedy film managed to set the cash registers jingling. The makers of the film are all set to come up with a sequel of 'Rowdy Rathore', ten years after it entertained the audience. Yes, you read that right!
The film’s writer KV Vijayendra Prasad, while talking to Mid-Day, confirmed the development. He told the leading daily that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had approached him to write the script for ‘Rowdy Rathore 2’, which he expects to finish soon. For the unversed, 'Rowdy Rathore' was Bhansali's first film as a producer in the action genre.

A source close to the film told Mid-Day that Sonakshi Sinha, who featured in the first installment, will continue to be a part of 'Rowdy Rathore 2'. The sequel is expected to go on floors by the end of next year, the report said. Interestingly, the story will not start from where the first part ended. The makers are planning to start a new narrative for the sequel, the report added.
'Rowdy Rathore' was the Hindi remake of Telugu hit 'Vikramarkudu', which was directed by S. S. Rajamouli,. The film emerged as one of the highest grossers of 2012.
While TV producers and channels are busy bringing new seasons of iconic shows, filmmakers are also working on second installements of popular films. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, while addressing a press conference for 'RRR', confirmed that 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2' is on the cards. Fans couldn't control their excitement after a video from the event went viral on social media.

Talking about Akshay Kumar, the 'Sooryavanshi' actor is gearing up for the release of 'Atrangi Re'. The musical romantic drama co-starring Sara Ali Khan and Dhanush will premiere on Disney+Hotstar on December 24, 2021. The much-awaited flick has been directed by Aanand L. Rai.
