Mumbai: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar’s mother Aruna Bhatia died on Wednesday (September 8) morning. The ‘BellBottom’ star took to social media to inform the fans about the unfortunate news. He penned a heartfelt post, expressing her grief over her mother’s demise.  


“She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti,” Akshay wrote on Instagram and Twitter. Fans have flooded the comments section with their messages.

Salman Khan and other tinsel town celebs offered condolences to Akshay and his family on different social media platforms. Salman, who has worked with Akshay in ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ and ‘Jaan-E-Mann', express grief on Twitter. 


“Dear Akki, very sad to hear of the passing of your mother. May she rest in peace. My deepest condolences to you and your entire family,” the ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ actor tweeted.  



Ajay Devgn re-tweeted Akshay's post and wrote, "Dear Akki, Heartfelt condolences on your mother’s passing away. May Arunaji’s soul find eternal peace. Condolences to you & your family. Om Shanti."



Akshay, who was shooting for his new film in London, immediately returned to Mumbai after he was informed about his mother’s ill health. He had shared a post to thank his fans and well-wishers for their concern about her well-being.  


"Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom's health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help," Kumar's post read.

The likes of Riteish Deshmukh, Sajid Khan and Ramesh Taurani were spotted at a crematorium in Mumbai where Aruna Bhatia's last rites took place. They offered their last respect to Akshay's mother.
