New Delhi: Ranveer Singh’s much-awaited film ‘83’, which is slated to release on April 10, will reportedly get postponed. The sports drama, which is based on India’s 1983 Cricket World Cup victory, is rumoured to get delayed due to the Coronavirus scare. The makers of the film are expected to make an official announcement soon.

A reliable source close to the film's production company Reliance Entertainment told ABP News that ‘83’ is bound to get delayed in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

“The new release date of ‘83’ will depend on several factors.  Delhi government’s directive to shut the cinema halls till March 31 has also affected several films and in such a situation, the release of ‘83’ is also bound to get postponed. We will soon announce the new release date,” the source further told ABP News correspondent Ravi Jain.

The makers of ‘83’ were planning to launch the film’s trailer at grand event on March 11. However, they had to scrap the event due to the threat of the deadly virus. They are yet to announce the release date of the trailer of ‘83’.

The film’s team has also postponed the promotional activities, which were set to take place in India and London. '83', which also stars  Tahir Raj Bhasin, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Pankaj Tripathi, has been directed by Kabir Khan.



Deepika Padukone is playing the role of Ranveer's on-screen wife Romi Dev in the movie.



Reliance Entertainment, which is also co-producing Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’, has also postponed the film’s release date. The cop drama was originally slated to hit the silver screens on March 24.
