Mumbai: Bollywood actor Sonu Sood is receiving praise from all the corners for helping the stranded migrant workers in safely returning to their homes. Swara Bhaskar also launched an initiative for the workers and arranged train tickets for them. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan has now come forward to help the workers, who are stuck in Maharashtra. Big B arranged for ten buses for the UP migrants so that they can reach their homes.

A fleet of 10 buses carrying around 275 migrant workers were flagged off for places like Allahabad, Banaras and Gorakhpur. The buses left from Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Race Course on Friday (May 29) afternoon.

The passengers were provided food items and medical kits. The initiative was sponsored by Amitabh Bachchan, Mahim Dargah Trust and Haji Ali Dargah Trust.

Rajesh Yadav, managing director of AB Corp Ltd, exclusively spoke to ABP News while flagging off the buses.

"We have started sending the migrant workers, who are stuck in Mumbai, to their homes through buses from today. We will continue to send more workers to their native places as soon as we get permission from police.”

He also informed that Amitabh Bachchan is making efforts to send the migrants back to their homes via trains. “As soon as we get the required permission, we will use rail mode of transport to send them to their place,” Yadav said.

Sabir Sayed, Mahim Dargah's IT-Director said, “Big B and both the dargahs are sponsored meals for 4500 needy people since the time of lockdown. Workers, who are leaving Mumbai, are being given footwear as many of them developed sores and blisters on their legs while walking bare feet in the sun . We are providing footwear daily to 1500 people. We have also made arrangement to give dry fruits to the workers going to their villagers.”
