New Delhi: Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan took to Instagram and Twitter to reveal that his father Rakesh Roshan has been diagnosed with “squamous cell carcinoma”, which is an early stage of throat cancer. The ‘Super 30’ actor shared a picture with his dad from the gym, calling it ‘surgery day’. Hrithik informed that his dad was diagnosed with cancer a few weeks ago but he is in full spirits.


"Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldn't miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it.As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him. Love you Dad," the ‘Kaho Na Pyaar Hai’ actor wrote in his Instagram post.


As soon as Hrithik shared the news, fans flooded the comments section with their get-well-soon messages and wishes.

''All d best... May God bless him with all d strength . N he wud come out with flying colors indeed,'' a fan commented on the post.

Rakesh Roshan is a well-known Bollywood filmmaker and actor. Roshan has directed his films  like 'Karan Arjun', 'Koi Mil Gyaa', 'Krrish' and 'Khoon Bhari Maang'. The 69-year-old actor has also acted in films like 'Khoobsurat' and 'Khel Khel Mein'.

The National Film Award winner's daughter Sunaina Roshan was diagnosed with cervical cancer a few years ago. Sunaina emerged as a survivor in her battle against cancer.
