Maharashtra’s Home Minister Anil Deshmukh took to Twitter to share the news of Sai’s death. He offered his condolences in a tweet written in Marathi. He wrote, "Actor Saiprasad Gundewar, who won the hearts of audience through popular films like PK, was defeated in his battle with cancer. With his demise, the Indian film industry has lost a talented actor. A heartfelt tribute!"
Sai Gundewar had mentioned about ‘starting a supplement to help get rid of cancer’ in his last Instagram post.

“Hi guys thinking of starting #moringa #supplement in powder from tonight onwards to help get rid of my ##cancer? Weakness and symptoms of #hydrocephalus, anybody using it? Any feed back positive and nqegative,” he wrote.
Sai's wife Sapna had penned an emotional note a few days back for him. She wrote,"Taking it back to 4 years ago with my love, my husband my best friend, Sai Gundewar. This year we have realized more than ever before that life is unpredictable and change is the only constant. So if you haven't already, let's take this time to be grateful for what we have in our lives, even the little things, and less time focusing on what we dont have."
Sai Gundewar participated in MTV Splitsvilla in 2010 and later went on to do Survivor India. He also worked in a couple of advertisements.

On the professional front, Sai Gundewar was last seen Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Bazaar’. He also acted in Bejoy Nambiar’s ‘David’ and 'I, Me Aur Main'.
