New Delhi: Jacqueline Fernandez is constantly in the news after her name was connected to Sukesh Chandrasekhar's case in the Rs 200 crore money laundering case. The actor's request seeking permission to travel to overseas has been rejected because of the ongoing lawsuit. Fernandez recently filed a petition with Delhi court requesting permission to visit her mother.
Jacqueline's attorney stated on the actor's behalf in the petition that she needed to travel to Bahrain to see her sick mother. There was a hearing at the court regarding this plea today.
The Delhi court was informed by Jacqueline's attorney that she has never disregarded the law and that there was no lapse on the actor's part. Jacqueline also concurred with the conditions of the bail. However, the actor's plea to travel abroad was denied by the ED, who asserted that it is a crucial time for the case.
In rejecting the plea, the judge noted that the investigation had come to a critical juncture. Therefore, in this situation, Jacqueline shouldn't go. Although it's a sensitive matter for her to go see her ailing mother, the court ordered that the accusations in the case be framed first.
The judge ordered Jacqueline's attorney to speak with her first as she may revoke the petition. Jacqueline Fernandez subsequently withdrew her request for permission to travel to Bahrain.
Jacqueline Fernandez had earlier submitted an application on Tuesday asking for approval to leave for Bahrain on December 23. Enforcement Directorate was ordered by a Delhi court to submit a response, and a hearing date of December 22 was set.
According to PTI, Special Judge Shailendra Malik issued notice to the ED and directed it to file its reply to the actor's application seeking permission to travel to Bahrain from December 23. Fernandez also appeared before the court during the brief hearing.
Fernandez, who was summoned by the Enforcement Directorate several times in connection with the investigation, was named as an accused for the first time in the supplementary charge sheet.
The ED's earlier charge sheet and a supplementary charge sheet did not mention her as an accused.
Meanwhile, on December 12 Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi had filed a defamation case in a court against Jacqueline, alleging that the latter made defamatory allegations against her for "malicious reasons" and to destroy her career.
