In a recent interview with Times of India, the actress spoke about her life, recalled about her co-stars  and much more. Meenakhi also spoke about her relationship with director Rajkumar Santoshi. While the director was filming Damini with Meenakshi and Sunny Deol, there were rumours that Rajkumar Santoshi was set to tie the knot with her. In the interview, Meenakshi acknowledged these rumours and revealed that they had mutually chosen that they "won't comment" on the relationship.

"When all this news broke out and whatever supposed problems happened, Mr Yash Chopra and Mr Amjad Khan intervened to put 'Damini' back on track. Mr Santoshi and I also decided that we will put everything behind us and make 'Damini' as the best film. Jo bhi personal baaten hui hoon, is taraf se ye hua, us taraf se ye hua, hum dono ne faisala kiya that we won't comment. And it was the most dignified thing to do. Plus, it was the right thing to do. I went on to marry and lead a respectable life and he too went on to marry and did the same," she told Times of India.

Meenakshi further went on to speak about her co-actors and recalled old memories with other Bollywood veterans. Recalling the film Dacait, she told The Times Of India how Sunny Deol had made her feel comfortable while shooting a kissing scene in the film, although it had got removed by the censors.

She told the Times of India, “With Sunny, I had a kiss in ‘Dacait’, which happens just before a song. I give full credit to Sunny for being very professional about it and making me comfortable too. But the Censors cut that.”

She also discussed her bond with Sanjay Dutt and her interactions with Amitabh Bachchan. She admitted that after seeing Sanjay Dutt and Tina Munim's film Rocky, she found he was "handsome and cute." Reportedly, she had told him about the shot later on when she was collaborating with him on 'Inaam Dus Hazaar'.

The conversation continued with Meenakshi addressing the rumours that she was sad not to have been cast in Subhash Ghai's movie- 'Devaa' and that Salman Khan was not scheduled to be in the movie.

Finally, speaking about herself and her friends in the film industry, she revealed that she did not have any special friends in the industry as she is quite a shy and introverted person. However, she also adds that she wishes to rectify that and get back in touch with people.

Meenakshi last appeared in Sunny Deol's 2016 film 'Ghayal Once Again'. She made a strong debut in 1983 with 'Painter Babu' and 'Hero'. Her family is still in the US, but she currently resides in Pune.
