New Delhi: The BBC television drama miniseries ‘A Suitable Boy’ is based on the 1993 novel by Vikram Seth of the same name. Set in the backdrop of North India in 1951, the six-part series is streaming on Netflix since its release on October 23, 2020. ‘A Suitable Boy’ stars Tabu, Ishaan Khatter, Tanya Maniktala, Rasika Duggal, and Ram Kapoor in pivotal roles. The series, however, landed into controversy for allegedly glorifying ‘love jihad’.

Directed by Mira Nair, the series witnesses a kissing scene between a Muslim guy and a Hindu girl inside a temple. This did not go down well with some sections of the audience and they started to trend #BoycottNetflix on Twitter.

One user wrote, “An anti-Hindu series again. I started watching it but when found their agenda... quitted #BoycottNetflix”


Another user wrote, “Netflix is just a OTT platform, have to boycott the producer and director of the series. Should take legal action against them. #BoycottNetflix”
