New Delhi: On the second day of its release, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha had a significant drop in ticket sales. The film reportedly brought in Rs 7.26 crore on its second day of release, bringing its total earnings to Rs 18.96 crore, as reported by market expert Taran Adarsh.
Taran tweeted, “#LaalSinghChaddha falls flat on Day 2... Drop at national chains... Mass pockets face steep fall... 2-day total is alarmingly low for an event film... Extremely crucial to score from Sat-Mon... Thu 11.70 cr, Fri 7.26 cr. Total: ₹ 18.96 cr. #India biz. Note: #HINDI version.”
It will be interesting to watch how well it does in its first weekend of release.
The Indian adaptation of the Hollywood blockbuster Forrest Gump starring Tom Hanks, titled Laal Singh Chaddha, could not live up to the high standards set for it. It is particularly disappointing when one takes into account the star power of Aamir Khan, the lengthy production process, and the substantial budget.
It's a three-day weekend beginning today, which includes Saturday, Sunday, and Monday (15th August). Therefore, the only thing that can rescue the movie is a spectacular increase in ticket sales during the next three days. If the leap doesn't happen, then we may anticipate that Laal Singh Chaddha would only make somewhere around Rs. 60 crores in its first weekend, which is a very disheartening amount.
South star Naga Chaitanya made his debut in the Bollywood film industry with the movie Laal Singh Chaddha. In the movie starring Aamir Khan, Chaitanya has a significant role to play as Bala, a buddy of Laal's who serves in the army. Laal Singh Chaddha also stars Kareena Kapoor and Mona Singh as leading characters.
