Chennai: Two youngsters including a law student were arrested after they used a parked police vehicle to shoot an Instagram reel inspired by the Kollywood movie 'Vikram' on gang war. 


According to a report on Times of India, the two youth were identified as M Sanjay (22) of Manali, a professional photographer and Vignesh (22) of New Washermanpet, a law student. 


The 39-second video clip that was doing the round on social media showed a police vehicle coming to halt on a playground. A gang then left the vehicle and protagonist Sanjay took to gore and violence to finish off his rivals. One of them also reprised the role of a drug smuggler like the character played by Vijay Sethupathi in the movie 'Vikram'.


The video that garnered 10 lakh views was brought to the attention of the Chennai police. The police immediately launched a probe.

During interrogation, the two accused said that they used the police vehicle at MPT Ground in New Washermenpet "for fun". 


Later, a detailed inquiry revealed that armed reserve police constable Naveen Kumar had parked the vehicle on the ground after dropping a CISF personnel at Madras High Court.

Following a complaint from Kumar, New Washermanpet police booked the duo under various sections including trespassing, punishment for forgery, intentional insult to breach peace and dishonestly using documents or materials as genuine of the Indian Penal Code. The two youngsters were produced before a magistrate. They were later remanded in judicial custody.


Meanwhile, the video relating to the smuggling of drug surfaced despite TN CM Stalin directing authorities to strongly act against drug peddlers and seize their properties. He also instructed officers to be more vigilant near educational institutions.
