New Delhi: Kubbra Sait was recently seen in 'The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha' on Disney+ Hotstar which is directed by Suparn Verma. The film is an adaptation of Robert King and Michelle King's 'The Good Wife' and Kubbra essayed the role of Sana Shaikh. In a candid conversation with ABP Live over a video call, Kubbra spoke about the film, shared what made her say 'yes' to it and also gave a peek into some interesting behind the scene moments.
On being asked what made her sign the show, Kubbra said, "Its a very very good show. The show last aired in 2016 in America, and I think the one character that people remember for sure is Kalinda, which is Sana's character. So, when it came to me, I felt that there was no reason for me to say 'No' to it. I mean look at the bouquet- you have Kajol, Suparn, Jisshu, Disney Hotstar, Bani J... so why will I say no, when you can have a Kubbra amidst this."
Sharing some fun moments on the set, she said, "I always have fun. Wherever I go, I am having fun. If I am not having fun, then I shouldn't be there. There was no dull morning. Our set was in Juhu, so everyday we used to wake up from our own homes and go to Juhu and we used to roll at 8 AM. So, we all used to be there much before, like at around 6:00- 6:30 AM in the morning, a bit drowzy and try to get ready and also get a hang of our lives and then Suparn Verma will walk in and be like 'Jaaneman jaanejigar jaanebaaz, kaisi hai... aaj phir hum dhamaka karenge...' and our day would start."
Kubbra also shared the impact 'Sacred Games' had in her life and said, "I think after Sacred Games people were like' O, she is an actor!' But, I think honestly, since 'Sacred Games' to 'The Trial' coming out, its treally today when I am pretty sure that people know my face and will recognise my work as an actor because its taken that much time. Between the last five years, since 'Sacred Games' released, people were always in doubt like 'You're only... that Kukoo is you?', like that they used to ask me. But, now I think I have my own face that is now at the forefront and people will be like 'Sana?'- I hope that happens. It happened in my building, twice and I am very happy."
Apart from the films, Kubbra also spoke about herself and shared her journey from hosting shows to modelling and now as an actor.
Talking about how this transition happened, Kubbra said, "It happened by taking one day at a time. And that is the real answer. There is no other answer apart from the fact that it takes one day at a time. And, I have never been of the belief that we need to take very large steps. You can take baby steps and get to the same place, it may take a bit longer but that's fine."
"It was never in my mind that I have to be an actor. I wanted to be a host on television and that was my ultimate goal and aim in life. I thought that if I can host a dance or a music show on television or a reality show, then my career will be sorted. But, when I left Dubai, my friends used to say 'Oh you are going to Bombay... become actor...', so then I became an actor. Now, even they don't know what to say, and even I don't know what to say," she said laughing.
After 'The Trial', on the work front, she will next be seen in 'Shehar Lakhot' on Amazon Prime Video.
