TXT’s Yeonjun, a popular member known for his dance moves, is currently making headlines for a troubling reason. Recently, Yeonjun became a target of artificial intelligence misuse, with deepfake technology causing a stir at a time when such technology is increasingly affecting the lives of celebrities.

Yeonjun's Deepfake clip goes viral

Yeonjun has become the latest victim of artificial intelligence manipulation, with a deepfake video of him going viral. The video, which shows Yeonjun in an intimate moment with an unknown woman, sparked outrage among fans once they realized it was AI-generated. The disturbing footage quickly spread across social media, drawing criticism.

A fan wrote on Reddit, “This is not actually Yeonjun, yes it’s AI generated. I found this on twt, and I think the girl that post the video has already deleted her Tt acc. My concerns started a long time ago, but the fact that AI can now be that realistic worries me a lot. It’s incredibly disturbing, and I wonder what kind of sane person would think it’s okay to do and especially to share something like this. And the fact that I already heard about kpop stans using AI to create deepfakes of kpop idols, male and female, thinking that it’s okay, and even funny. Asking for the app and hyping this up is terrifying.”

K-pop idols Deepfake videos

Deepfake incidents have been on the rise, and Yeonjun is not the first celebrity to fall victim. The increasing use of AI-generated videos has flooded social media, sparking concern. Earlier this month, Starship Entertainment, the agency behind IVE, faced backlash for sharing a deepfake video of members Jang Wonyoung and An Yujin on Weibo, which led to an apology. K-pop idols like BLACKPINK, TWICE, (G)I-DLE, and Babymonster have also been targeted by similar malicious deepfakes in recent years.
