New Delhi: The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris was kicked off by BTS member Jin, who became the first Korean artist to carry the Olympic torch. Since its inception in the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games, this tradition has welcomed many famous faces. The Olympic organisers have bestowed a great honour on Jin by choosing him to carry the torch.
The audience went wild cheering and singing Jin's name when he came out of the torch relay centre at the museum on July 15 at around 8 p.m. To show his appreciation for their support, he waved back to the crowd. Jin started the torch relay with the Olympic flame in his right palm, accompanied by authorities and supporters.
As he proudly carried the torch, the Korean Olympic account posted many photographs of Jin, who looked stunning in a white outfit.
Following his duty as a torchbearer, the BTS member expressed his gratitude to his ARMYs with a heartfelt statement. Jin said, "It is an honour to be able to participate in such a meaningful moment. Thanks to ARMY (BTS’s fan club name), I was able to fulfil the wonderful role of torchbearer. Thank you so much. I was so nervous that I didn’t know how time had passed, but I was able to finish it to the best of my ability thanks to the great support from many people on site," according to Hybe, the parent company of his agency, BigHit Music.
