New Delhi: New York City played host to the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which honoured the music industry's most prominent figures. Performers at the event, which was hosted by Megan Thee Stallion, included Sabrina Carpenter, Camila Cabello, GloRilla, and BLACKPINK's Lisa, who is a K-pop phenomenon. Lisa stunned the crowd as she performed ‘New Woman’ and ‘Rockstar’. However, following her performance at the awards, Lisa faced accusations of lip-syncing on social media.
As she sang her most recent solo singles, Lisa's enthusiastic audience went wild, captivated by her magnetic stage presence. Some viewers, however, vented their frustration on social media, claiming that the performer was lip-syncing. X (formerly Twitter) users were quick to point out that her backup vocals were too loud and didn't match her onstage lip movements, prompting a barrage of criticism.
Many people even thought Lisa didn't sing a word live, and many called the show uninteresting.
A user also wrote, "How can you call yourself a rockstar if you’re gunna lip sync …. I’m confused," while another one said, "This Lisa Lady Some Of The Worst Lip Syncing I’ve Seen In a While #VMAs."
The BLINKs, Lisa's devoted followers, swiftly came to her defence despite the criticism.
About BLACKPINK's LISA
Lisa became famous across the world after joining the 2016-formed YG Entertainment's South Korean girl group BLACKPINK—the group's youngest member. This year, Lisa went solo and started her own firm called LLOUD. The rest of the members have also parted ways with YG Entertainment to start their own things. In 2025, LISA will make her acting debut in an HBO series called 'The White Lotus', in addition to releasing blockbuster songs.
