New Delhi: Known as Jennie Ruby Jane in English, BLACKPINK member Jennie has formally trademarked her name. She reportedly filed for the trademark in January 2023, and it has been fully approved after more than a year of review. The K-pop currently owns the trademark in South Korea.

The news surfaced on August 2nd, according to the Korean media site Star News, which revealed that Jennie's registration with the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) was successful after sending her application in January 2023. After a two-month application process ended in April, KIPO finished examinating candidates and announced their registration status.

The singer whose breakthrough song ‘SOLO’ came from her stage name, Jennie, is officially known as Kim Jennie. Though she was born in New Zealand, she went by the English name Jennie Ruby Jane when she was a little girl.

This name became more well-known when, instead of her stage name Jennie, she chose to use it for her acting debut in the HBO series ‘The Idol’, co-starring with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp.

On the Professional Front

Jennie announced the launch of her own agency, OA (ODD ATELIER), on December 24th, the day before YG Entertainment stated that all four Blackpink members had chosen not to extend their individual contracts with the company. Once she left, the rapper collaborated with Matt Champion on Slow Motion and Zico on SPOT.

The Blackpink member Jennie was reportedly going to release an album as a solo artist in June of this year, but a label spokesperson shot down the rumours.
