New Delhi: The 'Keeping Up With The Kardashians' star, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Ye ( formely Kanye West ), a year ago, claiming irreconcilable differences.
During a hearing on March 2, in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, Judge Steven Coch declared Kim "legally single." Soon after, Kim decided to officially switch back to her maiden name. On the evening of Thursday, March 3, Kim updated her social media profiles to reflect the change.
According to HollywoodLife, the rapper expressed his dissatisfaction with the court's decision and had previously refused her plea to become single, raising the possibility that he desired the same result the second time around.
Kim Kardashian, who is apparently pleased to be back on her own as a single person, has taken the first step towards reclaiming her independence. She had previously gone by the name ‘Kim Kardashian West’ on her social media accounts, but she has now opted to delete the 'West'.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West started dating in 2012. A lavish wedding ceremony was held in May 2014 to commemorate two years of whirlwind passion between the two lovebirds.
Their marriage came to an end in 2020, following his announcement that Ye will run for President of the United States. Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in the year 2021.
Following Kanye West's failed effort to woo her back over the last several months, Kim Kardashian has also filed a motion to proclaim herself single while the divorce procedures are ongoing, according to reports.
