New Delhi: Actress Kareena Kapoor has made the humorous claim that she ought to be given some credit for the revenue that she has provided to the Indian Railways. In her role as a judge in the courtroom comedy ‘Case Toh Banta Hai’, the actress said that the popularity of her film, Jab We Met, contributed to an increase in the earnings of Indian Railways.

The 2007 film Jab We Met, directed by Imtiaz Ali, was an enormous success. Geet, portrayed by Kareena Kapoor, is a chatty young lady who encounters Aditya (played by Shahid Kapoor) on a train. Kareena misses her train twice in the film, and Shahid assists her both times. 

Kareena joked, “Mere Geet play karne ke baad harem pants ki sale aur Indian Railways ki revenue, dono badh gayi hai by the way (The sale of harem pants and revenues of Indian Railways both have increased after I played Geet).”

Kareena also used a movie dialogue when her on-screen lawyer Varun Sharma pushed her to take court more seriously. To this, the actress said, "Ab tu sikhayega mujhe, Sikhni hu main Bathinda ki, sab aata hai mujhe, train pakadne se lekar case jeetne tak.”

With Kusha Kapila as the judge and Varun Sharma as the defence attorney, Case Toh Banta Hai is a courtroom drama starring Riteish Deshmukh as a public defender. Included as additional witnesses are Gopal Datt, Paritosh Tripathi, Monica Murthy, Sanket Bhosle, Sugandha Mishra, and Siddharth Sagar. Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, and Karan Johar have all made appearances on the Amazon miniTV program to address the "charges" against them, joining Kareena.

Meanwhile, Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan’s latest film Laal Singh Chaddha was released on August 11. The box office performance of the film reportedly tanked.
