New Delhi: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) launched a massive breakdown into exposing the drug racket that prevails in the entertainment industry of the country. The drugs link came up while investigating the death case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. SSR, who was allegedly found hanging in his Bandra apartment, breathed his last on June 14, 2020. Since then, the probe of his death case is still under process and is currently being investigated by the three central agencies – CBI, ED and NCB.

The NCB has been questioning and arresting people from the industry related to the drugs case for a long time now. Many celebrities including Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Arjun Rampal and others were called in for questioning by the agency. Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, Bharti Singh, Haarsh Limbachiyaa and others were arrested by the NCB.

Now, according to the latest reports, the NCB has arrested Kannada actress Shwetha Kumari after seizing 400 grams of Mephedrone (MD) from her. Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director, Narcotics Control Bureau, Mumbai told ANI, “Kannada actor Shwetha Kumari was arrested today in connection with the seizure of 400 gram of Mephedrone (MD) by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on January 2.”



Reportedly, in the drive against drug supply in Maharashtra and Goa, the actress was detained during a raid at a hotel in Mumbai’s Mira Road. Sameer Wankhede informed that ‘a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against Kumari. NCB on January 2, has allegedly seized 400 grams of Mephedrone (MD) and searched Crown Business Hotel situated at Mira-Bhayander area here, post which the 27-year-old actor who is a resident of Hyderabad was arrested.’

Meanwhile, the investigating agency has also launched systematic operational activities to apprehend the main supplier along with the drug peddlers.
