New Delhi: The ongoing trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard in Virginia has been creating senational news everytime a testimony or evidence sheds light on the personal relationship between the two actors. In recent developments, on Monday, Amber Heard accepted of hitting Johny 'square in the face' when he was trying to hurt her younger sister, Whitney Heard. Amber also mentioned a similar incident with British model Kate Moss who Johnny dated in the 90s.

However, surprisingly, Johnny Depp's legal team were joyous when Amber mentioned Kate Moss and we will tell you why.

During her testimony on Monday, Amber mentioned an incident concerning Kate Moss being pushed down the stairs by Johnny, who dated the british model back in the 90s.

Amber had claimed this earlier in a British court case in 2020. Back then, Amber had said she heard from two people that Johnny pushed Kate down the staircase during his relationship with her.

However, a source close to Depp's team told The New York Post the reson behind the joyous response from his team of lawyer. "Amber mentioned an ex of Johnny’s that clearly she felt was not supportive of him, which couldn’t be further from the truth.”

It is being reported that Amber mentioning Kate here gives Johnny's team the freedom to call Kate to refute the testimony considering she is on good terms with Johnny. This in turn will create a question on Amber Heard's credibility.

"['Kate Moss] is still allegedly friends with Johnny and her testimony wasn’t allowed to come in before because it wasn’t as relevant. That’s one mistake that [Amber] made, was bringing up Kate Moss, which potentially opened the door to [Johnny’s team] bringing [Kate] on as an impeachment witness,” California entertainment lawyer Mitra Ahouraian told New York Post.

Amber had brought up the Kate Moss reference when speaking about a fight betweeen Johnny wherin her younger sister Whitney was trying to protect her. "(Whitney's) back was to the staircase, and Johnny swings at her. I don't hesitate, I don't wait — I just, in my head, instantly think of Kate Moss and stairs. And I swung at him. In all of my relationship to date with Johnny, I hadn't landed a blow. And I, for the first time, hit him, square in the face. And he didn’t push my sister down the stairs."

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's current trial rests on a 2018 op-ed Amber had written for The Washington Post wherein she had talked about being a domestic abuse survivor without naming Johnny.
