India's Oscar Entry 'The Last Show' Child Actor Rahul Koli Dies Of Cancer

Rahul Koli, who was only 15 years old, was one of the total 6 child actors to play the lead role in 'Chello Show'.

New Delhi: Child artist Rahul Koli of the Gujarati film 'Chello Show', sent by India as the Indian entry to the 95th Oscar Awards, breathed his last on October 2. He was suffering from cancer. Rahul Koli, who was only 15 years old, was one of the total 6 child actors to play the lead role in 'Chello Show'. Rahul lived with his family in Hapa village of Jamnagar, Gujarat and he was the eldest son among all three children.

Rahul, who was suffering from Leukaemia, had been undergoing treatment for past four months. Hailing from a poor family of an autorickshaw driver, Rahul had the huge dream of becoming an actor.

Family members say that before Rahul's death, he was having constant low-grade fever and had to be taken to the hospital. Despite being under treatment, his condition worsened and he also vomited blood thrice, eventually leaving for his heavenly abode on October 2.

As per TOI, "On Sunday, October 2, he had his breakfast and then after repeated bouts of fever in the following hours, Rahul vomited blood thrice and just like that my child was no more. Our family is devastated. But we will watch his 'last film show' together on the release day on October 14 after we perform his final purification rituals," said Koli amid sobs.

'Chello Show' director Pan Nalin also expressed his grief over Rahul's sad demise.

'Chello Show' (The Last Show) will release in cinemas in India on October 14.

'Last Film Show' is produced by Roy Kapur Films, Jugaad Motion Pictures, Monsoon Films and Chhello Show LLP. Roy Kapur Films in partnership with PVR is distributing the film in India. The film will be released by Samuel Goldwyn Films in the USA and by Orange Studio in France. Shochiku Studios and Medusa are bringing the film to Japanese and Italian cinemas respectively.
