Conan O'Brien will make his Oscars hosting debut at the 97th ceremony, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. After Jimmy Kimmel has hosted for two years in a row, the Emmy-winning writer, producer, and comedian will take over for the first time on Sunday, March 2, 2025.


In a joint statement, Academy President Janet Yang and CEO Bill Kramer expressed their "thrill" and "honour" at having the legendary Conan O'Brien host the Oscars this year. The statement reads: “He (Conan O'Brien) is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humor, his love of movies, and his live TV expertise.”


Conan O'Brien responded with his trademark humour, "America demanded it and now it's happening: Taco Bell's new Cheesy Chalupa Supreme. In other news, I'm hosting the Oscars."

The show's executive producers, Katy Mullan and Raj Kapoor, were equally enthusiastic with O'Brien. They remarked, "Conan has all the qualities of a great Oscars host — he is incredibly witty, charismatic, and funny and has proven himself to be a master of live event television. We are so looking forward to working with him to deliver a fresh, exciting, and celebratory show for Hollywood's biggest night."
