New Delhi: International Emmy Awards 2023 have begun. Actors Shefali Shah, Jim Sarbh and comedian Vir Das have been nomintaed from India. Among 56 nominees from 20 countries competing across 14 categories, Jim Sarbh, Shefali Shah and Vir Das also made it to the list. However, Shefali Shah could not win in the Best Performance by the Actor( female) category. She lost out to Mexican actor Karla Souza, who won the award for her performance in the series 'La Caida'.


Shefali Shah was nominated in the Best Performance by an Actress category for the second season of 'Delhi Crime'. The show has been critically acclaimed by all ever since the release of Season 1. 


For those unaware, 'Delhi Crime Season 1' had won the International Emmy for the best drama series in 2020, the first for India.


Meanwhile, besides Shefali Shah and Karla Souza, Connie Nielson for the Danish series 'Drommeren' and Billie Piper for the British show 'I Hate Suzie Too' were also part of the nominees.


Earlier, speaking about Delhi Crime's validation internationally and at the Emmys, Shefali said, "It’s a validation that what I set out to do with Vartika was right, my understanding and translation of her was right, she is relevant, relatable and inspiring.”


Meanwhile, from India, Jim Sarbh has been nominated in the Best Actor category for his show 'Rocket Boys' while Vir Das has received a nomination for his Netflix comedy 'Special Landing'.


Producer Ektaa R Kapoor was also honoured with the Directorate Award for her "trailblazing career and impact on the Indian television landscape”.


The Emmy Awards ceremony is taking place in New York. 


The 51st edition of the Emmy Awards is being live streamed on Nov 21, from 6:30 AM onwards. 


Jim Srabh, Shefali Shah and Vir Das were seen at the awards ceremony among other nominees. The trio was also seen attending the opening cocktail night of the Emmy Awards 2023. 


They also received gold passes and medals for the Emmys red carpet.
