New Delhi: Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar celebrates her 47th birthday today. She is the daughter of the famous lyricist Gulzar and veteran actress Rakhee. Meghna started her career as a screenwriter with the 1999 film ‘Hu Tu Tu’. She then directed her first film ‘Filhaal’ in the year 2002 which starred Tabu, Sushmita Sen, Sanjay Suri and Palash Sen in the lead roles. Meghna gave the industry some incredible films like ‘Talvar’, ‘Raazi’, ‘Chhapaak’ and others.

As the director celebrates her 47th birthday today (December 13, 2020), Bollywood celebrities took to their social media and wished Meghna Gulzar on her birthday.


Deepika Padukone shared an Instagram story and wrote, “Happy Birthday. Hope you’re having the best day ever treating yourself just a little bit! Love You Mama! @meghnagulzar”



Alia Bhatt also shared a story on her Instagram from the shoot of ‘Raazi’ and wrote, “Happy bday Megs!! I hope you’re having the bestest day with beer and peanuts. Love you loads!!!”



Vicky Kaushal also shared a picture from the sets of ‘Raazi’ and wrote, “Jald hi, pakka! @meghnagulzar Happy Birthday!”



Deepika Padukone collaborated with Meghna Gulzar in the 2020 film ‘Chhapaak’ which tells the story of the acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. The movie also starred Vikrant Massey in a pivotal role. Though the film did not do well commercially, it garnered positive reviews from the critics.


Both Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal worked with filmmaker Meghna Gulzar in the 2018 spy thriller film ‘Raazi’. This film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s 2008 novel ‘Calling Sehmat’ which tells the true story of an Indian RAW agent who is married into a Pakistani family of military officials to relay information to India on her father’s request. This movie has been both a commercial and critical success.


On the professional front, Meghna Gulzar’s next movie ‘Sam’ stars Vicky Kaushal in the role of the protagonist and it is the biopic on India's first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
