News agency ANI quoted Jammu & Kashmir police saying that an encounter broke out between the security forces and three terrorists in Dugran Poshana area of Poonch today.
"An offer to surrender was given to terrorists which includes a local and two Pakistanis but they opened fire on cordon team that led to an exchange of fire," Jammu & Kashmir Police said.
According to other media reports, the terrorists are believed to have infiltrated into this side from across the Line of Control (LoC) about three days back. The trio was heading for south Kashmir's Shopian district when they were intercepted in a snow-bound area this afternoon.
Upon receiving the information about the presence of three suspected terrorists, Jammu & Kashmir police assisted by the Army, launched a joint cordon and search operation in remote Chattapani-Dugran village.

While two were killed in retaliation after terrorists opened fire at the police, the third terrorist was captured alive during the gunfight. Sources reportedly said that two Pakistani terrorists of LeT outfit gunned down in Poonch have been identified as Sajid and Bilal. Two AK 47 Rifles, one UBGL and one Thuraya Satphone have been recovered from their possession.
