October 28th marks Hollywood actor Joaquin Phoenix’s 46th birthday. The critically acclaimed actor has been nominated for four Academy Awards and won his first Academy in 2020 for his role of Joker. He is known for drowning into a role and completely the embody the character he plays. Joaquin Phoenix and his late brother River Phoenix are the only brothers who have been nominated for the Academy Awards.

Joker (2019) for which he won an Academy Award is known by almost everyone. He played Joker, a DC comic villain giving an alternative origin story. For the role her lost about 23 kgs according to an interview by Vanity Fair magazine. Here are some other movies
Gladiator (2001): Joaquin got his first Academy Award nomination (Best Supporting Role) for his role of a fictionalized version of Roman Emperor Commodus in the historical epic film Gladiator, directed by Ridley Scott. His gripping role described as "deliciously creepy perversity" by film critic Lisa Schwarzbaum.
Walk In the line: In 2005, Phoenix starred Walk the Line it was a Johnny Cash biopic, infact, Cash himself approved of Phoenix. All of Cash's vocal tracks in the film and on the accompanying soundtrack are played and sung by Phoenix. Phoenix's performance received rave reviews from critics. For his portrayal of Johnny Cash, Phoenix was nominated for his second Academy Award in the category of Best Actor.
The Master (2012): Phoenix’s third Academy Award nomination was also in the Best Actor category for his role of Freddie Quell, a World War II navy veteran struggling to adjust to a post-war society. The film grossed $4.4 million in its first week. In a Rolling Stone review, his performance was praised, "Joaquin Phoenix in the performance of his career. Phoenix wears the role like a second skin; he's a volcano in full eruption. You can't take your eyes off him."
Hotel Rwanda (2004): In movie Joaquin Phoenix played Jack Daglish and English photographer, the film is based on the Rwandan genocide, which occurred during the spring of 1994, the film documents Rusesabagina's efforts to save the lives of his family and more than 1,000 other refugees by providing them with shelter in the besieged Hôtel des Mille Collines. The film was not financially successful but was critically acclaimed and for his performance in the film, Phoenix was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture along with the cast.
Her (2013): In Joaquin Phoenix plays Theodore Twombly a man who develops a relationship with Samantha (Scarlett Johansson), an artificially intelligent virtual assistant personified through a female voice. Actress and Joaquin’s wife Rooney Mara played Catherine, Theodore estranged wife. The film was well received and Film critics Manohla Dargis and David Edelstein agreed that no other actor could have done the role but Phoenix, stating "Her is even harder to imagine without Mr. Phoenix, an actor who excels at exquisite isolation" and "It's hard to imagine someone more affecting than Phoenix in the role"
