New Delhi: Sanya Malhotra is all set for the release of her upcoming comedy-drama film 'Kathal' which is written by Ashok Mishra and directed by Yashowardhan Mishra. The film is based on a true story about two jackfruits that disappear from a politician's garden, and how a spirited cop's investigation takes an unexpected turn as she digs for the truth. In addition to Sanya Malhotra, this Netflix comedy also stars Anant V Joshi, Vijay Raaz, and Rajpal Yadav among others.

In an exclusive chat with ABP Live, Sanya revealed some interesting moments from her shoot and also shared her experience of working with Rajpal Yadav.

Interestingly, Sanya happens to love jackfruit and jokingly told that maybe while enjoying the food item for so many years, she must have "manifested" it and it was indeed a match made in heaven for her to work in the film 'Kathal'.

Talking about her experience, Sanya shared, "For me, it was a master class in acting as it was very difficult for me to catch the dialect. Moreover, I had never done a female-led comedy previously and there I was in front of such senior actors. So, I made sure that I was well-prepared with the script before I went in front of them."

"I had done scripts in Haryanvi, for the movie 'Patakha' also there was a different dialect, so I was confident that I will be able to catch the dialect properly, but on the first day of the shoot, I realized that it was not sounding the way I want my character to sound like. But, Neha was there, who is from MP, and she could speak that dialect beautifully. So she used to talk to me in that manner and gradually, I got used to it.", Sanya further went on to share.

Sanya also spoke about her experience on working with the legendary actor Rajpal Yadav and also shared an incident that happened while rehearsing with him.

"It was a great experience working with him in a comedy film and there is no one who does better comedy than him. He is wonderful, and also he is so funny that he keeps on improvising endlessly. It was really amusing to see all of it. He actually gets into the character and then eventually becomes that character and it all goes beyond the script. So, it never felt like we are doing a scene, it always felt as if we are really on the lookout for two jackfruits!"

Sharing an incident, she said, "We were having our readings and after having done with the other actors, I was told that I have to do a reading with Rajpal Sir over a Zoom call. Instantly, I sat and started doing my homework and said to myself 'You can't make a mistake in this Sanya'. After that, we connected over the call and he was very chilled out. He was going somewhere, so he stopped his car to do the reading session."

"I am such a big fan girl, so I wondered how can I let people know that I have done a script reading session with Rajpal Yadav over a Zoom call, and also that I am doing a comedy film with him. So, I kept my phone at the side and recorded some snippets to show my parents that I have done a script reading with Rajpal Yadav."

Apart from this, she also spoke about her love for Chhole Bhature and discussed that when she was asked to put on weight for a movie, she used to have Chhole Bhature for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The much-awaited movie 'Kathal' is slated to be released on May 19. Speaking of her work front, apart from 'Kathal', Sanya will also be seen in the movie 'Jawan' and 'Sam Bahadur'.
