Zeenat Aman Recalls Wearing Burka In Movie Theatre To 'Gauge The Audience's Reaction'

Zeenat Aman recently amused her fans with an entertaining anecdote about her days of going to the movies while hiding her identity.

New Delhi: Veteran actress Zeenat Aman, who often updates her Instagram followers with interesting anecdotes about her life, revealed another tale about her devotion to going to the movies. She spilt the beans about her past disguises at the theatre. Taking to Instagram, she amused her fans with an entertaining anecdote about her days of going to the movies while hiding her identity. She uploaded an old photo of herself from the 1970s when she was an audience member at a movie.

In a recent post, the seasoned actress also included two images of herself, taken at different times forty years ago. In the first photo, we see the beautiful Zeenat Aman cheering among the audience members in a theatre. On the other hand, we can see the actress in her youth seated at a theatre. From her position in the crowd, she can be seen smiling and applauding in the black and white photo.

At her boarding school in Panchgani, Zeenat Aman said that Sundays were movie days. She shared, “We girls would pile into the gymnasium where the movies were screened, ready to be swept into alternate worlds.”

The actress went on to say that, even now, she prefers to be in the crowd. Zeenat Aman went on to say, “In my early years as an actor, I would buy tickets for “my” films and watch them incognito to gauge the audience's reaction. Often this involved wearing a burkha to avoid being recognised. When I grew too mature for this trick, I would enter the cinema late, once the film had started, and exit early to avoid being mobbed.”

The actress also spoke on the evolution of moviegoing in the same piece. She said, “I suspect the sheer glut of content available now has blunted the thrill of movie watching. But my older followers will remember how novel, exciting and entertaining cinema-going used to be.”
