New Delhi: Actor Yami Gautam is ecstatic as her father and director Mukesh Gautam won his first National Film Award at the 70th National Film Awards on Tuesday at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi. Mukesh Gautam took home the Best Punjabi Film title for his movie ‘Baghi Di Dhee’. The awards were presented by President Droupadi Murmu. Yami sent a message to her father on social media and expressed her happiness.


As Yami Gautam watched the event on TV, she documented her father's award acceptance moment and shared it on Instagram. She wrote, “Very emotional moment as my father, Shri Mukesh Gautam, received his first National Award, as a director, for his film – ‘Baghi Di Dhee’. Emotions cannot be poured into words. I am such a proud daughter. My father’s journey till here has been one of the hardest journeys I have seen & yet couldn’t deter him from his consistent passion for work & immense honesty in ethics. Your family is proud of you, papa. A special mention to @rabindra.narayan & @jasrajsinghbhatti for being a fantastic team,” next to images of the live broadcast, expressing how emotional it made her to witness her father on the stage.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu presented awards to a number of celebrities at the 70th National Film Awards, including Mithun Chakraborty, Manasi Parekh, Rishab Shetty, Sathish Krishnan, and Pritam.


Yami Gautam Embraces Motherhood


At the moment, Yami Gautam is really enjoying being a mother. Their son, Vedavid, was born on May 10 to the actress and director Aditya Dhar. He was born on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya, and they expressed their deepest joy in a touching statement. 


On the work front, Yami was last seen in the political action thriller ‘Article 370’. The film stars Priyamani and Arun Govil.
