When Shaan Performed For Just Two People In The Audience: 'After Four Songs, Only One Was Left'

Shaan, renowned for hits like ‘Musu Musu Haasi Deu,’ ‘Chand Sifarish,’ and ‘Jab Se Tere Naina,’ shared a peculiar experience where he performed for an audience of just two people. 

Shaan, renowned for hits like ‘Musu Musu Haasi Deu,’ ‘Chand Sifarish,’ and ‘Jab Se Tere Naina,’ frequently performs in concerts and private shows. Recently, he shared a peculiar experience where he performed for an audience of just two people, one of whom left midway. 

During an episode of ‘Chill Sesh with Sapan Verma,’ Shaan recounted a memorable trip to Scotland for a private event that turned unexpectedly odd. 

Shaan recalls when he performed for two people

He said, “I went all the way to Scotland. I traveled from Inverness into the wilderness for another four hours to the Northwestern tip. Of course, we had a briefing, so we were aware of what we were going there for. They said there would be five people in the audience, but even if there are three, you still have to do the show; you can't back off. We were like, okay, I've never been to Scotland, so I took it. Until you're there, you don't realise how weird it can get."

When the only person in the audience started feeding him snacks

He continued, “They were talking whenever they wanted during my songs. After four songs, the son also left, and now only the father was there. At some point, some snacks came in, and he's taken a plate full of snacks and come onto the stage, feeding us. So I said there's no point. The guy I'm singing for isn't there; he's here feeding us. So I stopped singing. We were also eating with him. Meanwhile, the saxophone player was still performing, so we had to remind him there was no one left to play for.” 

“The oddest part,” Shaan recalled, “was when the father complimented my singing, saying ‘You sing well.’ When I asked if he knew who I was, he replied, ‘No, my management booked you. I just asked for a good singer.’ I pointed out that he had been singing along with me, and he said, ‘Yes, I know the songs, but I didn’t know who sang them.’” 

He also made comments that appeared to criticise the current trend of minimalist singing, prompting speculation that he might be referring to artists like Prateek Kuhad and Anuv Jain. Click here to read the full story
