New Delhi: Manav Kaul is known for his diverse work profile. The film actor, who previously worked on many TV shows, some even made by the production house T-Series, spoked about being mistaken as a suspect in the 1997 murder case involving T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar. Recently, in an interaction the actor revealed that someone in his residential society misunderstood him and his friend's activities.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Manad shared what happened back then. "We were five people who used to stay in Dahisar and since we didn’t have much money, we would stay awake till 2am, have tea and sleep. The next day we could skip breakfast and wake up late and directly have lunch.

"The entire day we would walk around studios and Film City and meet people and then come back at night. So someone who lived in our society found it suspicious that these five men come back late at night, gamble and then next day will get ready and leave. So they complained,” recalling how the confusion happened.

Recalling the events of the night when police surrounded their room, Manav added, "So one night we were playing cards and suddenly the police surrounded our house and they entered and directly asked, “Gulshan Kumar ko kisne maara (Who killed Gulshan Kumar)?” I found it a bit funny but 2-3 other people got scared and they took us to Dahisar police station.”

When added if this scared him, he said, “I was very young back then… to uss samay mein lag raha ki ‘aisa swagat kiya Mumbai ne’ (At that time, I felt this is how Mumbai welcomed me).”

"Later when I was working with T-Series and doing Tumhari Sulu; I went to the office and saw Gulshan Kumar’s picture at the entry and thought to myself ‘hmmm…kaha se shuruaat hui thi, aur kaha hai hum.'” He added.
