Rumours about the marriage of Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan have been circulating, sparked by the noticeable absence of public birthday wishes from Abhishek and other Bachchan family members for Aishwarya's 51st birthday on November 1. Although fans from around the world showered her with love, her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, also refrained from his usual heartfelt blog posts for special occasions, further fueling speculation.
When Aishwarya Rai talked about her relationship with Abhishek Bachchan
Amidst these ongoing rumours, an old interview with Aishwarya has resurfaced, in which she shared insights into her relationship with Abhishek and the importance of communication. “There’s a lot of adjustment, a lot of give and take. There will be agreements and disagreements. But it’s important to keep the communication going. That’s something I’ve always believed in," she told Filmfare.
She added, “Abhishek has been wonderful to respect that. Communication is extremely important in a relationship. Doesn’t it all start with friendship? What’s friendship all about? I’m not one of those who say, ‘Okay shut it for today and don’t take it to tomorrow.’ If it needs to go to tomorrow, then it’ll go to tomorrow. And if you can shut the chapter today, great! But neither fit into a rule book. There’s no finality in looking at each day. You have to be open-minded about how you share your time together. It also means respecting and being sensitive to your partner.”
Aishwarya and Abhishek's divorce rumours
On November 1, fans noticed the silence from Amitabh, Abhishek, and Shweta Bachchan, as none publicly acknowledged Aishwarya’s birthday. This lack of celebration led to discussions online, with some fans puzzled by the apparent change.
On Reddit, fans unearthed old tweets from Amitabh Bachchan showing a different tone in past years. In 2010, Amitabh expressed gratitude to fans for their birthday wishes for Aishwarya, tweeting, “T172 -First things first … thank you all for wishing Aishwarya on her birthday !! Have passed it on to her.. she thanks all … love."
Another tweet mentioned a family dinner in celebration: “T171 -….family dinner at Chinese in Taj where function was held … and brought in Aishwarya Birthday ..good feel about the day.."
The Bachchan family’s silence has intensified speculation about possible marital issues between Aishwarya and Abhishek, who have been married for 17 years and are parents to Aaradhya Bachchan. Rumours started earlier this year when Aishwarya attended the Ambani wedding without Abhishek, accompanied only by their daughter, Aaradhya. Recently, Abhishek’s “like” on a social media post about divorce caught fans’ attention, adding to the speculation.
Aishwarya and Abhishek’s relationship began as friendship while working on films like 'Dhai Akshar Prem Ke' (2000) and 'Kuch Naa Kaho' (2003), with romance blossoming during the filming of 'Umrao Jaan' in 2005-2006. They married on April 20, 2007, in a grand ceremony, and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011.
