New Delhi: Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi recently gave a sneak peek into his house where he can be seen enjoying a rustic lifestyle within the hustling and bustling city of Mumbai. The 'Saathiya' actor gave a tour of his Mumbai residence during an interview with Urban Company, that has been designed in the serene style of a Goan farmhouse, a reflection of his and his wife Priyanka Alva Oberoi's lives.

The tour began with Vivek introducing his pet cow, Kamadhenu, highlighting how her presence brings a rustic village ambiance to their home. He remarked, “This is more her house than mine. The aroma of a cowshed gives you a feel that within this city, you are living in your own little village.”

What Vivek Oberoi's home looks like from inside

Decorated with antiques, wooden furniture, exquisite chandeliers, prominent portraits of Goddess Lakshmi, and lush indoor greenery, Vivek's home radiates a farmhouse ambiance, perfectly capturing the essence the actor aimed for.

Sharing his and his wife Priyanka's idea of sustainability, Vivek said, "The idea was that this home should come from me and Priyanka, and what it represents is our life. When we bought this house, we wanted it to reflect Goa. Everything that you see outside, inside is the essence of a farmhouse.”

During the tour of the living room and bedroom, Vivek proudly displayed their array of antiques, expressing a deep affection for items imbued with sentimental value. He gestured towards the antique bed in their bedroom, recounting its rich history and significance. The actor said, "This is our refuge from the outer world uh we're both big Geoffrey Bawa (a Sri Lankan architect) fans so we love bringing the outdoors indoors but we're also big fans of antiques reimagining something that's old and putting it someplace where you wouldn't expect it."

He continued, "If you take a look at this bed this has been in priyanka's family for I don't know over half a century maybe even longer than that so I love it because my memories earliest memories as early as when I was four was sleeping in a bed like this feeling cozy and secure in a machardani listening to stories with my dadi you know um and I can't tell you I travel all over the world when I come back home uh I don't know it has something special when I sleep here it's like my soul feels energized."

Emphasizing their idea to merge the outdoor and indoor spaces seamlessly, Vivek pointed out the tall, lush trees visible through the expansive windows encircling the house. Concluding the tour in the backyard, the actor revealed its exposed pipes and a tap, remarking that they embrace these small imperfections. He expressed, "We appreciate this quirkiness and madness."

The actor concluded by talking about the comfort that he feels in his home when he returns after travelling all over the world where everything is superficial. Vivek said, "I work in a world of make belief where it's all superficial, it's about projection, it's about something you know on camera even when you're off camera you have to behave a certain way. When I walk back from the outside world, I'm not the actor Vivek Oberoi, I'm just me. When I'm home where there's nothing but love and acceptance all I have to do is take a few flights up and go into my quiet space which is our bedroom."
