India registered a historic win at T20 World Cup on June 29 making every Indian proud. Virat Kohli shared an emotional note on Instagram, celebrating the win and announcing his retirement from the T20 format. The legendary cricketer’s post has now become the most-liked Instagram post in India, surpassing 18 million likes.

Kohli’s celebratory post has dethroned the wedding photo of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani, which previously held the record with over 16 million likes. The star cricketer shared the triumphant moment with a photo of himself and his teammates celebrating with the trophy, as well as several pictures of the joyous locker room celebrations. Kohli captioned the post, “Couldn’t have dreamt of a better day than this. God is great and I bow my head in gratitude. We finally did it 🇮🇳❤️🇮🇳❤️jai hind ❤️❤️❤️.” 




In 2023, Sidharth and Kiara set the record for the most-liked Instagram post in India after they married on February 7, capturing widespread fan attention with stunning wedding photos. Before their post, Alia Bhatt held the record with 13.19 million likes on her wedding photo with Ranbir Kapoor. 


While Kohli's post continues to attract more likes, it remains far behind Lionel Messi’s record-breaking post, which celebrated Argentina's 2022 FIFA World Cup win and has amassed over 75.3 million likes, making it the most-liked post of all time.
