Sandhya Pandit, the sister of music composer duo Jatin-Lalit and yesteryear actors Sulakshana and Vijayta Pandit, went missing in 2012, and her partial skeleton was discovered almost a month later. Her son, Raghuveer, was later acquitted of all charges by a Thane court.

Vijayata Pandit on sister Sandhya's death

In a recent interview with Lehren Retro, Vijayta spoke about her sister's murder and revealed why the family has still not informed Sulakshana about Sandhya's tragic death, even after all these years.

Vijayta shared, "She (Sandhya) was murdered. We never thought something like this would happen so suddenly. She was quite happy in her marriage... I don’t know what went wrong. We never even found her, only her skeleton. At first, her family said she was missing, so my brothers, Lalit and Jatin, and I would search for her everywhere. After a long time, they found her bones scattered across different places. It was a huge shock."

She continued, "And you won't believe it, even to this day, Sulakshana ji has no idea that our sister is no longer with us. Can you believe this? I’m saying this for the first time. I never told her because if she finds out, she will die that very moment. I keep telling her that our sister is fine, that she lives in Indore, and even calls me. Sulakshana thinks she is alive, and she asks me to send her love to our sister because she doesn’t use a mobile phone. I swear on God, I still have to keep up with this act to this day."

More Details About Sandhya's Death

According to a 2021 report by The Indian Express, a Thane sessions court, in its detailed order acquitting Raghuveer Singh of charges related to his mother's murder, stated that the prosecution failed to prove anything beyond the fact that the accused had a history of alcohol addiction and had conflicts with his mother.

Raghuveer was acquitted of charges including murder, robbery, and destruction of evidence. The court also noted that the Mumbai Police Crime Branch’s case against him was based largely on suspicion regarding his involvement in Sandhya’s murder.
