“I also googled, actually I went and checked if there is any star son or star daughter, who are about to be launched and will they fit into this film. So that it gets some buzz but my heart wasn’t into it. I thought that I am a first time director, why not trust newcomers with this kind of a film and thankfully my producers agreed.” Varun Grover said in an interaction with Bollywood Hungama.

In the same conversation, Varun Grover expressed his curiosity over whether 36-year-old Varun Dhawan could pass for a 17-year-old, similar to how 44-year-old Aamir Khan did in the role of a college student.

“I imagined… you know how Aamir is there in '3 Idiots' I imagined ‘can Varun Dhawan look like a 17 year old?’ Just a thought when I was sitting at home, it was not a bad thought but then I came back to reality and wondered if it will look good in the film. I am not saying Varun Dhawan would have done it, I’m just saying that I thought about all this.” He said in the same interaction.

Samta Sudiksha and Bodhisattva Sharma, two recent debuts, play the key parts in 'All India Rank'. The movie centers on a teenager who is taken away from home to be ready for IIT, but All India Rank seems to be talking about the experiences of those who aren't necessarily eager to put in the hard work, in contrast to the numerous online series that exalt this arduous process.
