New Delhi: Tahira Kashyap, wife of Ayushmann Khurrana, is directing her first feature film, 'Sharmajee Ki Beti'. Tahira Kashyap delves into the lives of three women - Sakshi Tanwar, Saiyami Kher, and Divya Dutta - as they navigate the intricate web of their personal and professional lives. Ahead of the premiere of her film, Tahira sat in an interview with Puja Talwar where she talked about how she takes pride in her relationships.

Tahira Kashyap was asked how she maintains her individuality as a woman. To which, she responded, “It really doesn't bother much when you're comfortable in your space and your shoes. There is no point to prove inherently. That's not my goal, that's not my mission only to prove a point but my main aim is to make films. To enjoy the things I've always wanted to. I think when you start the energies and when they go into that direction, suddenly you find your own bearing and it's when you find yourself suddenly you see people also finding you as the person that you've always felt.”

When Tahira Kashyap Was Cynical About Surname

Tahira Kashyap discussed the challenges of accepting a surname. “I've also seen that part of my life where I was too cynical about the surname thing and and I realised the more I felt like that the more it was being rubbed in by my environment. The day I started saying what do you want to call me, Tahira I'm okay, call me Tahira Kashyap, I'm okay. Call me Mrs Khurrana, I'm okay. Call me Tahira Kashyap Khurrana, I'm okay. Call me Rajveer's mother, I'm okay. Call me Varushka’s mother, I'm okay. Cal mel Ayushmann Khurran’s wife, I'm okay,” the writer-director said.

Tahira Kashyap opens up about embracing her identity. She added, “I'm okay because I'm very proud of these relationships in my life. There is no insecurity as such. Maybe this is what happens when you grow up in life you take pride in the relationships that people associate you with instead of getting complex. When you start sort of growing in your own skin and being comfortable in that and cherishing that, you're your own authentic version, and people will start seeing that again. So, it's basically what you feel about yourself and the environment exactly replicates that.”

Tahira Kashyap and Ayushmann Khurrana tied the knot on November 1, 2008. The couple has a son named Virajveer and a daughter named Varushka.
