Suresh Gopi, the newly-elected Thrissur MP who was sworn in as a minister of state in the Narendra Modi government Sunday, is learnt to have expressed his wish to be relieved of his new role. While he wants to stay as MP and work for the people of Thrissur, he told Manorama News, he would like to complete his films first.

The actor-turned-politician created history when he became the first BJP candidate ever to register a win from Kerala in a Lok Sabha election. The party was quick to reward him for the feat by making him a minister.

Suresh Gopi, however, told the Malayalam news channel cited above: "I expect I will be relieved from the Union ministry. I have to finish my movies.”

He has reportedly told the central leadership that he is contractually bound to finish his film projects.

What Are Suresh Gopi’s Upcoming Films?

According to reports, Suresh Gopi has at least four film projects in the pipeline.

While his film, JSK (Janaki V/S State Of Kerala), is all set for release, and the actor’s Facebook page dropped its poster on June 6, there are a few projects he is said to be working on.

It has been known for some time that Suresh Gopi will be acting in a film based on the famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram. Reports indicate the budget for this film is Rs 70 crore. Not much is otherwise known yet about the film, the shooting of which is yet to begin.

It has also been reported that Suresh Gopi will be part of another big-budget film in which he is teaming up with Malayalam superstar Mammootty.

The film will be produced by Mammootty Kampany. If local media reports are to be believed, this film will star Mammootty, Fahadh Faasil, and Kunchacko Boban, other than Suresh Gopi, in prominent roles.

The shooting has not started yet.

Suresh Gopi’s 2006 superhit Chinthamani Kolacase is set to get a sequel, according to reports, and the actor is said to have confirmed that he would reprise his role of Lal Krishna Viradiyar, an advocate.

The Thrissur MP was last seen in Garudan, and his work as a police officer was appreciated. He is now likely to be seen in another police crime thriller, though not much is known about the project yet.

Apart from JSK, Suresh Gopi is reported to have wrapped up shooting of another film, Varaham.
