Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal, who got married on June 23, have been getting backlash for their inter-faith marriage. The couple has even turned off their comments on Instagram to shield themselves from trolls. On Tuesday, Sonakshi sent a subtle message to their trollers, hinting that love is what truly matters.

Sonakshi comments on artwork

Sonakshi left a comment on an artist's Instagram post that featured an artwork of the newlyweds in their wedding reception attire. The artist had captioned the post, “Love is the universal religion. Wishing @aslisona @iamzahero a happy life." Sonakshi responded, “Truest words!! This is adorable. Thank you.”

The sentiment was echoed by many others in the comments. One user wrote, “No problem with Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan, Kareena Kapoor, and Saif Ali Khan, but why are people making an issue out of their relationship.” Another commented, “That is so true. Humanity is the ultimate goal.”

 Sonakshi and Zaheer's wedding

Sonakshi and Zaheer chose a civil marriage ceremony held at her home on Sunday, attended by her parents, Shatrughan and Poonam Sinha, and Zaheer's parents. Later, the couple hosted a reception for their friends and family at a restaurant in Mumbai, with notable attendees including Salman Khan, Rekha, Kajol, and Raveena Tandon.

The couple, Sonakshi, 37, and Zaheer, 35, shared photos from their reception in a joint Instagram post, where comments were disabled, similar to their wedding announcement, due to the reported hatred they faced for their inter-faith union.

"What a day!!! The love, the laughter, the togetherness, the excitement, the warmth, the support from every one of our friends, families, and teams..." they captioned the series of photos.

"It was like the universe came together for two people in love to give them exactly what they've always hoped, wished, and prayed for. If this is not divine intervention... we don't know what is. We are both truly blessed to have each other, and so much love protecting us," they added.
