On March 2, renowned playback singer Kalpana Raghavendar was discovered unconscious in her Nizampet, Hyderabad residence, following a suspected suicide attempt. Reports indicate that she consumed sleeping pills. She was immediately rushed to the hospital, where she remains on ventilator support but is now in stable condition.

The incident came to light after the apartment security grew concerned when Kalpana had not opened her door for two days. Worried neighbours alerted the police, prompting an investigation into the matter. Authorities are still working to determine the exact reason behind her distress.
According to a police official from KPHB Police Station, doctors confirmed that Kalpana had ingested sleeping pills. He stated that her condition is now “out of danger” and assured that further details will be available once she regains consciousness. The police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Who is Kalpana Raghavendar
Daughter of celebrated playback singer T.S. Raghavendra, Kalpana has been deeply rooted in music from an early age, beginning her singing career at just five years old. She gained widespread recognition after winning Star Singer Malayalam in 2010, which paved the way for collaborations with legendary composers such as Ilaiyaraaja and A.R. Rahman.
With a career spanning several decades, she has recorded over 1,500 songs in multiple languages. Apart from her playback singing, she made a brief appearance in the film Punnagai Mannan, starring Kamal Haasan, and was a contestant on Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1, hosted by Jr. NTR.
